Een folly of follie is een niet-conventioneel gebouw of bouwwerk, dat ongeschikt is voor huisvesting of andere functies en uitsluitend een decoratief, kunstzinnig of ludiek doel dient. De term folly is overgenomen uit het Engels waar het dwaasheid betekent.
Het is voor mij aantrekkelijke om folies te maken omdat ik dan nog meer creatieve vrijheid heb. Tegelijkertijd voel ik me aangetrokken cq gebonden aan de vormentaal van bestaande architectuur.

It is attractive for me to make foils because it gives me even more creative freedom. At the same time, I feel attracted or bound to the formal language of existing architecture.
