Dit huis stond ooit langs de Amstel. Na verlaging van het waterpeil in de Amstel werden de houten palen, waarop het huis stond, aangetast door paalrot en moest het huis worden gesloopt. Op dit schilderij is een deel van het huis gesloopt.

This house once stood along the Amstel. After the water level in the Amstel lowered, the wooden piles on which the house stood were affected by pile rot and the house had to be demolished. In this painting, part of the house has been demolished.
